MAY’S: The May Lane Street Art Project

Join exhibition Curator Tugi Balong, the Director of Bathhurst Regional Gallery Richard Perram and artist Mini Graff for a free floor talk.
MAY’S: The May Lane Street Art Project is a groundbreaking exhibition of large scale street art created at May Lane, St Peters, by leading Australian and international street artists including: Adam Hill, B.U.G.A.U.P., Chor Boogie (USA), Deb, Die Laughing Collective, Dlux!, Dmote, Cultural Urge, Jumbo, Kenji Nakayama (USA/Japan), Kamion (UK), Luna, Mare, Mini Graff, Nails, Numskull, Otis, Peque (Mexico), Peru, Peter Burgess, Phibs, Scram, Spice, Taring Padi Collective (Indonesia), Zap and Zombe.

‘Hidden Gems’ International Women’s Day Exhibition - Audrey McDonald

Audrey is a community representative on the Gosford Council Status of Women Committee and is here to speak about the international and national origins and history of International Women's Day which had its 100th anniversary last year 2011.
Audrey has had a long involvement in the women's movement and with the celebration of International Women's Day going back to the 1950s when she was Secretary of the Sydney IWD Committee.

A Central Vision

‘A Central Vision’, is the Central Coast /Lower Lake Macquarie public schools secondary Visual Arts annual exhibition held at Gosford Regional Gallery. The best artworks are selected from years 7 – 12 the participating local high schools, some of the talented students will be here today to talk about their selected artworks.

‘Hidden Gems’ International Women’s Day Exhibition - Margaret Fortey

We are very pleased to announce that popular local artist Margaret Fortey will be here to give a public talk on her selected paintings. ‘Hidden Gems’ is an exhibition of works by female artists based on the Central Coast and is In recognition of International Women’s Day, March 8 2012. The Gosford Regional Gallery has selected 5 female artists who have established careers but who have not necessarily had a high profile at the Gosford Regional Gallery in the past. The exhibition has come about through the involvement of Gosford City Council’s status of Women’s Committee.

‘Hidden Gems’ International Women’s Day Exhibition - Janet Cobb & Margaret Finney

As Part of ‘Hidden Gems’ International Women’s Day Exhibition, artist Janet Cobb will be at the Gallery to talk about her selected artworks. Margaret Finney will talk about the conceptual ideas behind her prints. She will also explain why printmaking is such a great medium for artists to explore. ‘Hidden Gems’ is an exhibition of works by female artists based on the Central Coast and is In recognition of International Women’s Day, March 8 2012. Response Art and Design 10am-4pm
The team from Response Art and Design (RAD) will here all day to print your designs inspired by the MAY’S: The May Lane Street Art Project exhibition. Simply come along with your digital design (JPEG format) or RAD will help create and scan your artwork on the day. Your design can be full colour onto either a t-shirt (black or white) or cap using the heat transfer method. T-shirts $15 & Caps $12.
Response Art and Design maintains a professional business and training environment where Industry Standard Training in the Visual and Graphic Arts prepares talented young adults with mild disabilities and disadvantaged youth on the NSW Central Coast to access realistic employment goals in the Arts and to access the Arts in the Community.

You are invited to a free guided Tour of May’s Lane exhibition by one of our experienced Gosford Regional Gallery Guides Followed by a free talk from Response art & Design Coordinator Jamie Conroy on their business and training opportunities they provide for young people on the Central Coast and the workshops they will be running here at the Gallery

Barrie Flakelar ‘Shadow Play”

Artist Barrie Flakelar will today join us to talk about his photography exhibition ‘Shadow Play’ which is currently on in the Foyer Gallery. Barrie is a professional photographer with extensive international and national experience.

Rod Milgate ‘Paintings’

Rod Milgate is one of Australia’s most prominent and respected painters. Today’s guest speaker will be here to discuss the current exhibition and Rod’s achievements as one of Australia’s most influential painters.

Free Guided Tours
A free guided tour of the Gosford/Edogawa Commemorative Garden takes place every Wednesday at 11am.

Regular Gallery Activities and Opportunities

Floor Talks

The Gallery often presents floor talks in conjunction with exhibitions. Guest speakers conduct these talks either on a Saturday or Sunday at 2pm. Floor talks provide an opportunity for visitors to gain further insight into the exhibitions. Information about these events is posted on the website and in the Gallery's quarterly Exhibition and Public Programs brochures . These events are free to the general public.

ArtChats
The Gallery invites visitors to come along to these free, engaging sessions on Saturday afternoons at 2pm - hear an artist speaking about their work, engage in a discussion about the exhibitions or just enjoy a social cup of tea or coffee. Information on the ArtChats program is posted on the website and in the quarterly Public Programs brochure.

Special Public Programs
Our special evening program of talks and lectures are usually held on a Wednesday evening. Enjoy an evening that is both social and educational with wine and nibblies served at these events. Information about our special public programs is posted on the website and in the Gallery's quarterly Exhibition and Public Programs brochures. These evenings require advance bookings and payment through the Administration Office on 4325 0056.

Guided Gallery Tours
The Gallery offers free guided tours of all major exhibitions. Guided tours for groups can be with advance notice. Please book through the Education Officer on (02) 4325 0056. Schools groups are advised to book prior to visiting to ensure relevent material or guides are available for their visit.

Garden Tours
A garden tour is a wonderful opportunity to learn more about the philosophy and symbolism of our Japanese Garden. Visitors are invited to join our garden guides for a guided tour every Wednesday at 11.00am. Garden tours for groups can be arranged on other days of the week. Please book through the Education Officer on (02) 4325 0056.

Practical Workshops and Demonstrations
One-day workshops and free demonstrations are often conducted by exhibiting artists during major exhibitions, providing a unique opportunity for the general public to learn more about their techniques and processes. Information about these events is posted on the website and in the Gallery's Exhibition Program. The general public does not need to book to attend demonstrations in the Gallery. Practical workshops need to be booked and paid for through The Gallery Shop
