Eden was the driving force behind the magazine Surfabout, published between 1962 - 1968. 150 photographs, covering the lifestyle, fashion, cars and all of the major surfing events of those times.


Barry Walsh - From The Lives of the Kelly Gang - Foyer Gallery, 20/1/2001 – 27/2/2001
A series of paintings created by the artist depicted the life and time of the “Kelly Gang”.

The work in this exhibition was a series of photographic studies of the landscape by local artist Robert Sherwood Duffield, using a pin hole camera.

Reclaimed, Recycling in Contemporary British Craft & Design - Gallery 1&2, 20/7/2001 – 2/9/2001
The work of 23 British artists are shown, examining the transformation of waste and the use of found forms and objects. Reclaimed, Acclaimed. Toured by the British Council and the tour was managed by the Newcastle Region Art Gallery.

Shirley Amos - Foyer Gallery, 20/7/2001 – 7/8/2001
New work by Indigenous Artist, Shirley Amos. The work was in a traditional ‘dot and line’ style with acrylics.

Art Spectrum 2001- Foyer Gallery, 11/8/2001 – 27/8/2001

Australian Watercolour Institute - Gallery 1&2, 3/11/2001 – 9/12/2001
The leading body for watercolourists across Australia. This is the first time that the exhibition had been held outside Sydney. Works were in traditional and contemporary style.

An exhibition of work from local school students ranging from Kindergarten to Year 12

Out in the Cold – Australia’s Involvement in the Korean War- Gallery 1 14/12/2001 – 3/2/2002
This exhibition depicted Australia’s commitment and contained works by the two Official War Artists in Korea – Ivor Hele and Frank Norton. A touring exhibition developed by the Australian War Memorial.

A Sense of Place – Hunter Collections and their Stories - Gallery 2 14/12/2001 – 23/1/2002
This exhibition covered the Hunter region with a focus on the Henry Kendall Cottage in Gosford and Alison Homestead in Wyong.

A photographic exhibition created to capture the essence of children. Photographer Jim Rolan is an outstanding portrait/people photographer and recipient of many awards.

Esther Paterson – A Creative Life - Gallery 1 28/3/2002 – 12/5/2002
An exhibition of an artist who was almost lost to the history of Australian art. It traces the story of Patterson’s art as she travelled abroad, her life in Melbourne in the 1920’s – 1940’s, and the difficulties facing women artists at the time. Toured by the New England Regional Art Museum.

Hyun Mi Lee – Bush Calligraphy - Foyer Gallery 28/3/2002 – 15/4/2002
This exhibition was an interpretation of the Australian environment with the interest of interpreting the Australian landscape based on Zen meditation.

Polydora was Connor ’s interpretation through her oil paintings of fragmented images exploring the feminine identity.

A celebration of the artistic output of a major figure in Australian Art. Rod Milgate has won the Blake Prize for Religious Art three times, as well as numerous other awards.The exhibition included works from public and private collections as well as drawings on the collection of the Artist.

A number of new works by local sculptor sculptor Colin Henry, including digital prints. This exhibition focused on his passion for expressing the female form through his work.

An exhibition of the best works from central Coast school students ranging from Kindergarten to Year 12.

Gary Webber & Mark Welsh – Molehills to Mountains - Foyer Gallery, 6/12/2002 – 5/1/2003
This exhibition was of black and white, and colour photographs, features macro and panoramic perspectives of dynamic alpine subjects.

Stephen Copland – The Migration Series - Gallery 2, 13/12/02 – 2/2/03
A contemporary exhibition in which local artist artist Stephen Copland had retraced his heritage through a diary he found of his grandmother’s, which traces her story as a migrant to Australia.

Out of Site is a survey of works produced from 1998 –2000 at the International Art Space Kelleberrin Australia (IASKA ), a ground breaking artistic project based in a small rural town in the wheatbelt region of Western Australia.

‘Where the waters reach the Sky’ - contemporary landscapes that were mainly painted in silk and framed or freestanding.


Cutting Comments: Contemporary Linocuts 1995-1998 -

Cutting Comments grew from the Silk Cut Awards for Linocut Prints. This series of linocuts is presented by well known and emerging artist in printmaking.

Patrick Carroll Bushfire Series – Black - Gallery 2, 7/2/2003 – 23/3/2003
A series of works by Patrick Carroll on Bush fires which had been completed over the past 10 years.

Explorations in Art – Mandi Reid - Foyer Gallery, 22/2/2003 – 20/3/2003
In this series of work, the artist celebrated the many aspects of the female form in a style that borrows from Cubism. Reid utilised the relatively unusual medium of glass colour on canvas.

Fruits of the Sea – Rosalind Bonser - Foyer Gallery, 22/3/2003 – 13/4/2003
Inspired by ideas related to fractal imagery, kaleidoscopes, mandalas, Islamic art and the fourteenth Century stained glass windows. A series of traditional photographic and digital prints, paintings and wall sculptures.

Emerging - Gallery 1&2, 28/3/2003 – 4/5/2003
Showcasing the work of talented young artists from around New South Wales. Up to 10 artists were selected to compete for a $2500 first prize and a total of up to $7000 in prizes.

Aleida Pullar Coastline - Foyer Gallery, 15/4/2003 – 7/5/2003
Local artist Aleida Pullar presented a series of paintings that explored the idea and nature of the Coastline. Pullar is well known as both a ceramicist and a painter.

Craft 2003 - Gallery 1&2, 9/5/2003 -15/6/2003
A selection of craft objects produced by Central Coast artisans, which included quilts, ceramics, weaving, glasswork, jewellery, woodwork, and silks.

Buddhist – A photographic documentary by Patricia Verden - Foyer Gallery, 10/5/2003 – 29/5/2003
Buddhism in contemporary Sydney was the basis of this exhibition. The exhibition began as a series of photographs documenting the Tibetan, Vietnamese, Chinese, Thai and Laos communities.

Thought Forms – Helen Ferry - Foyer Gallery, 30/5/2003 – 18/6/2003
In this exhibition Helen Ferry explored the relationships between the nature of reality and creative aspects of the psyche. Works were acrylic on paper and mixed media on wood.

Darkinjung Community - Standing Strong - Gallery 1&2 & Foyer, 21/6/2003 – 3/8/2003
An exhibition celebrating the local Indigenous community. This exhibition included a history of the local Darkinjung people.

Beyond The Frame - Foyer Gallery 29/7/2003 – 12/8/2003
This exhibition was part of an ongoing association between the gallery and local schools. Three local artists, Liz Balean, Aleida Pullar and Colin Henry, were invited to work with students.

The Gosford Art Prize is an annual exhibition open to all artists with prizes awarded for painting, photography, sculpture and ceramics.

Four Central Coast photographers use their own work to re-interpret the importance of iconic photographers they admire including Alfred Steiglitz, Diane Arbus and Max Dupain.

Australian Photographic Society Members Exhibition - Gallery 2, 27/9/2003 – 2/11/2003
Members of the Australian Photographic Society exhibited approximately 250 photographs as part of their biennial conference held in Gosford.

The Silver Chalice – Robert Duffield - Foyer Gallery 27/9/2003 – 12/11/2003
Robert Duffield reinvented the lost technology to create silver daguerreotypes. The daguerreotype was one of the early forms of photographic printing.

Kamilaroi Dreaming – Wendy Pawley - Foyer Gallery 13 December – 15 January 2004
Local artist, Wendy Pawley, a descendant of the Kamiliaroi people of Narrabri in northwest NSW, featured her intricate dot paintings that recreate dreamtime stories of the area and focus on the spectacularly rugged Nandewar ranges

A series of abstract paintings that were completed when the artist attended an artist in residency program at the New England Regional Art Museum in Armidale, NSW.

An exhibition of portraits by the internationally known photographer, Yousuf Karsh, and his Australian contemporary, Athol Shmith, was drawn from the rich holdings of the National Gallery of Australia.

Four artists, Michelle Culpitt, Dorothy Galaledba, Annee Miron and Una Rey, visually presented the inherited stories of their families. Curated by Rilka Oakley.

Melissa Evans -
Foyer Gallery 7 February – 4 March 2004
Local artist Melissa Evans explored the notion of landscape beyond the purely physical to incorporate the acquired and stored resonance of human activity.


Sea Visions – Sandra McArthur - Foyer Gallery 6 March – 25 March 2004
Sea Visions was an exhibition that allowed expression to be given to the changing moods of the sea. These works have been captured using pastels and are then explored through oil and acrylic paints.


Presence and Landscape: Guy Warren in Retrospect -

Janet Tavener - Bittersweet -

An exhibition of black and white photographic images. The artist defied the normal conventions of food photography to present this exhibition, exploring food as an obsession in society.


Images of the Pilbara – Noel Olive - Foyer Gallery 1 May – 24 May 2004
Images of the Pilbara was a collection of oil and pastel paintings portraying the many vibrant colours seen throughout the landscape of the Pilbara by Noel Olive.

Reconciliation Week - Foyer Gallery 26 May – 17 June 2004
This exhibition formed part of the celebrations for Reconciliation Week 2004. This was a competition organised with the assistance of the Department of Fair Trading.

An exhibition organised by B’nai B’rith a Jewish service organisation, designed to convey a message of communal tolerance and living in harmony.

A retrospective exhibition of the paintings, pottery and architectural work of Jim Tyler (1932 – 2001). Jim Tyler was a well-known teacher, potter and painter and architect on the Central Coast.

Spirit of Africa - Fae Tucker - Foyer Gallery 19 June – 20 July 2004
These works were based on photographs taken when travelling through the Kruger National Park, Etosha National Park, The Kalaharai Gemsbok Park and the Western Cape and Namibia of South Africa.

This exhibition was a collaborative process between artists and their families. Local Aboriginal artists have been invited to create artworks in collaboration with members of their families.

EO 2: an international exchange project between Korea and the Central Coast -

An exhibition of work by three emerging local artists – Muamer Cajic, Sandy James and Meredith Brice Copland – who recently participated in the 2004 Nine Dragon Heads Environmental Art Symposium held in Korea.

An annual competition. Prizes are awarded for various categories of art making, including painting, ceramics, photography and sculpture.

Archibald Prize -

One of the most prestigious art prizes in Australia, held annually at the Art Gallery of New South Wales (AGNSW) .
The touring component of this exhibition includes all of the finalists.Toured by the AGNSW and the Museums and Galleries Foundation (MGF).

Local artists were invited to create a portrait of a local identity using any art form.

“Capsule” - William Anderson - Foyer Gallery 25/9/04–20/10/04
The exhibition featured 100 sculpted toy figurines designed to be mass-produced and sold through vending machines. Anderson’s work appeals to contemporary youth culture and is inspired by contemporary Japanese design aesthetics.

Illusionary Art - Thomas Maurer -
Foyer Gallery 23/10/04– 10/11/04
Thomas Maurer’s unique process created fantastic illusionary works of art on flat Aluminum panels. A winner of the viewer’s choice award at the Gosford Art Prize for the past two years.

Pathways - Gallery 1 - 6/11/2004 – 12/12/2004
A collective exhibition of contemporary quilts by the Canberra based group tACTile. Local quilters were also included in this exhibition. Also included, a selection of Contemporary Jewellery by Central Coast based jewellers and a display of contemporary Glass courtesy of the Glass Artists Gallery in Glebe
